Olivia Louise Curto
Olivia is a dedicated movie director and SFX makeup artist, on a journey fueled by a desire to connect hearts and minds through storytelling. With roots in both Dublin and Milan, Olivia embraces her rich Italian-American heritage while loving the vibrant culture and people of the Republic of Ireland.
As a homeschooler, Olivia was encouraged to explore her imagination freely, fostering a spirit of innovation and boundless curiosity. This early autonomy allowed her to delve deeply into her passions and extend her projects across the globe. Her travels have taken her to many enchanting places including Costa Rica, Mexico, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, and the US each inspiring her artistic vision.
For Olivia, filmmaking is a calling rooted in genuine curiosity and empathy. Her work amplifies voices often silenced, shining a light on the beauty and complexity of the human spirit. Over the past few years, Olivia has directed several short films and contributed her skills as an assistant makeup artist on various movie sets. Known for her hard work, problem-solving abilities, and a strong desire to learn, she is committed to advancing from foundational roles to the pinnacle of the film industry.
In 2019, Olivia joined the team of "The Land of Dreams," a European co-produced musical. During the pandemic, she took the opportunity to refine her expertise by enrolling in an SFX course at the prestigious New York Makeup Academy. By 2022, she had directed two short films: "Surreal" in Portofino, Italy, and "No Flash Photography" in Kilkenny, Ireland, in collaboration with the Young Irish Film Makers association. The latter was nominated for an award at the International Fresh Film Festival 2023.
In 2024, Olivia's film "Freequencies" secured second place overall at Fresh Films Festival, Young Filmmaker Of The Year in Ireland as well as Best Direction at the REC youth film festival.
She is continually pushing the boundaries of her craft and merging her passion for directing and special effects to create captivating cinematic experiences.
